Chromic Anodize

Chromic Acid Anodize (Type I Anodize) is an electrolitic process that requires a voltage to be increased throughout the process.  It is the oldest known anodize process and commonly known as the Bengough-Stuart process.  Chromic anodize provides an opaque film that is softer, more ductile film that may be dyed or painted after the anodize process.
