Hard Anodize
Hard (Hardcoat) Anodize (Type III Anodize) is an electrolitic process used when an extreme surface hardness or density are required. Due to the thicker coating (0.5 to 6 mili-inches), the thickness of hard anodize must be accounted for since it does alter the dimensions of the part. As a result, hard anodize is a very common and effective tool to salvage otherwise unusable parts due to over-machining or incorrect honing. A bright dip or black dye is often applied after the hard anodize for aesthetic purposes.
